The Dice RDS Modulator, is an iPod car Kit not only plays all the music you have stored on your iPod, it is also capable of Charging your iPod while connected AND displaying Track information on your radio display at the same time. This is done when the Dice RDS FM decrypts’ the music from the iPod (AAC format) and converts it into a readable format for your stereo. The Dice takes the information about the track (track time and artist etc) and creates an RDS data package that the majority of stereos car read. The kit comes as standard with a Dock Cable, a Video Cradle will work but is a seperate item and has to be ordered in addition to the Dice RDS Modulator.
RDS (radio data system) is a standard system devised by the European Broadcasting Union to create a universal method of sending small packets of digital data. Usually used by radio stations displaying frequency, name of the station, DJ show title and occasionally name & time tracks the radio stations are playing.
Dice have managed to create a package that allows the iPod data to be used in the same way, although the data package is sent in a consistent way not all stereos will read all of the same information, this is due to varying levels of technology within factory fitted stereos. This means the amount of data received and shown by the radio display will vary from car to car.
DONT Worry if you don’t have an RDS compatible stereo, the Dice unit will still work perfectly, you just won’t get any information scrolling across your radio display.
The Dice RDS FM is a universal connecting car kit; the kit can connect to all cars that have standard European ISO AM/FM coaxial aerial connection. When installed the Dice Aerial connection is placed into the radio input aerial connector (on the back of your stereo) and run side by side with the original radio aerial antenna. So when you select your iPod, the radio antenna is bypassed and electronically cut out ensuring you receive NO interference from radio channels and you receive a Static free modulation, unlike the FM Transmitters.
