Dension Gateway Lite GWL1SK1, GWL1VW1/VW8

The Gateway Lite is Densions solution for non-text capable Skoda vehicles when the owner wished to use their iPod in the same way as their factory CD Changer. Some Skodas, especially older models, do not have the CAN Bus cluster installed on the dashboard meaning iPod information cannot be displayed. In this case the Dension CAN products do not work but the Gateway Lite makes for a compatible alternative.

The GWL1SK1 and GWL1VW1/8 are designed to work with Skodas factory OEM Stereos, the kits plug into the exsisting wiring looms on the back of the radio unit. The GWL1SK1 version fits to the Stream and Stream MP3 stereos with the GWL1VW1/8 fitting the other OEM stereos (See compatibility).

As the kit utilises the CDC port on the stereo, it does not require additional cabling as both power and audio output is included in the CDC harness. Occasionally additional grounding is required but where this is needed an earth wire (usually black in colour) is provided on the kits harness. If this cable is not earthed sufficiently, the kit will not charge the iPod or give audio playback.

The GWL1VW1/8 and GWL1SK1 device packs includes the following.

Question:

"I have just purchased an iPhone 4, I have heard reports that not many devices work with this model, can you please confirm if this is indeed the case?"

You may have seen reports of Skoda owners have a text giving dension kit, but these users will have to reflash the software every two weeks as the vehicle CAN system does not support the system properly. "Is it possible to retain my CD changer when fitting this product or will I have to disconnect it?"
